The Fashion of 'Sex and the City 2'

It's me again. And guess what I want to talk about today? That's right, fashion. Again.

I have just recently watched SATC 2. As mentioned before, the movies are way behind the TV show, but let me be honest here, I did it for the fashion :))) Yes, the fashion is amazing, some ensembles are just out of this universe. As SJP says herself: 'The fashion really is another character in the movie' and fans of Carrie & co's often outlandish styles won't be disappointed.

Stylist Patricia Field, the show's Emmy award-winning costume designer, has once again pulled out all the stops, with a reported £7 million-worth of outfits - and the girls even got to keep the clothes!!! They include a £34,000 Chanel dress and overskirt and £2,800 studded jeans worn by Carrie during a karaoke scene; a £1,000 Roland Mouret Brise Noire dress worn by Miranda, and Samantha's stunning £3,500 red dress with spiked epaulettes which was designed by hip New York duo The Blonds (Daily Mail).

And of Course Carrie had the biggest closet (who would have any doubts on that matter). 48 outfits in total, so that is like a new look every 3 minutes! So hard to stay focused :))) And I'm not mentioning numerous Manolo Blahniks and Louboutins, Chanel bags, Halston dresses... Geeeeee... Ok, here our some of my favourites!!!

A very CLASSIC and SIMPLE Carrie!
Ooooh, and I love the golden Louboutins ;))

Samantha totally ROCKED
this dress by The Blonds

One very SEXY Miranda...
Julien Macdonald is definitely
a name I should remember!

One very ELEGANT Charlotte
PS couldn't find the designer
of this dress though...

Favourite Look from 'Sex and the City 2'

I know I've written here before that I'm not really a fan of the movies. Yes, they were flat, they were really cliche, the story was poor, and the dialogues weren't that smart and witty. BUT!!! The fashion was definitely there!!! I mean, how many outfits did the girls have in the second 'Sex and the City' movie? I'd say countless!

One look in particular drew my attention. The scene where Carrie meets Aidan at the market. WOW! It was not something over the top glamourous or couture, but it was a true Carrie ensemble..

Don't you guys agree?!?

Why People Love Carrie

Carrie Bradshaw... The narrator, the voice behind all 'Sex and the City' episodes... The one and only. I guess people either love her or hate her. And I understand why. She really is a real individual. A great friend. In fact, a best friend to so many people - Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha, Stanford and Big. And just the fact that this person has so many people relying on her support, advice really means a lot.

Our Carrie has done a bunch of mistakes (with the biggest being her affair with married Mr. Big while having a great boyfriend Aidan at her shoulder) that haunted her for so long, But the thing about her, she never settles down for something that is too simple for her human nature. Aidan was too good and predictable for Miss Bradshaw. While John (aka Big) is the perfect match. This mysterious Manhattan businessman who has commitment issues just like her. I think what we have witnessed in the show is the rebirth of both these characters. Both stubborn and complicated, they actually do make a great couple together. I guess they are on the same emotional level, they get each other. I'm not saying that they have the perfect relationship, I could never forgive a man for not showing up on the wedding... But all these struggles and experiences made them stronger. Just the fact that they always end up together after every break-up. The best word that describes their relationship is constant DRAMA! Our Carrie just can't do without it. It's in her blood to not only feel positive emotions, but also to be hurt once in a while, just in order to feel that much more happy and satisfied when things actually go extremely well. She is in no way a masochist, she's just the way she is. Our Carrie.

I find Carrie (and Sarah Jessica Parker) extremely attractive in the show. Yes, she doesn't have that generally accepted beauty, but she's unique, you gotta admit it. I don't understand why so many men can't see that. Current sex symbols (take Megan Fox, even though I do think she's attractive) are so unnatural (plastic surgery), so without that something special... And on the other hand we have women who have entirely and completely accepted themselves for who they are. They may not be perfect, but God created them just as they are for a reason. That's why I find celebrities like Uma Thurman, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Barbara Streisand, Liza Minelli so much more attractive that those ladies who always want to change something in their physical appearance. I won't start writing names here, but we all get the picture. That's why you, girls, have to love yourselves. You are unique. You are special. We may not be supermodels, have long legs and perfect bodies, but we have a PERSONALITY, and that is what matters at the end of the day. Beauty fades, but who we are stays forever...

LOVE,
MK

PS for those of you who love Carrie as much as I do, the author of SATC published a new book recently. It's called 'Summer and the City' (2011). And it's a sequel to 'The Carrie Diaries' (2010). Those of you who are interested, you may also find these books on Amazon. Just click the pictures below!

Carrie Bradshaw's Men

So, we all love Carrie! Even though she can be a little annoying at times, but it's Carrie! There would be no show without Carrie, no Manolo Blahniks without Carrie, no Mr. Big without Carrie, no Aidan without Carrie! So, if we take a look at Carrie's men, who would you pick? Would it be the mysterious Mr.Big? Or would it be the cuddly and sweet Aidan? Well, one thing is for sure, Carrie had a lot of relationships. Both good and bad ones.

But four of them were in the show for quite a while... And here they are! Like them or not, but they all played a big part in Carrie's life.

1. Mr. Big (aka John James Preston)

2. Aidan Shaw

3. Berger (aka Jack Berger)

4. Aleksandr Petrovsky

So, who's your ultimate pick? They all have their flaws and that's what I really like about SATC. It doesn't give us examples of extremely unrealistic and perfect men. It gives us different characters. I won't deny the fact that exaggeration and satire is seen throughout every episode, but still, you can see those Mr. Bigs and Aidans in real life. Don't you feel the same way?

Sex and the City Style, Baby!!!

We all love 'Sex and the City' because of many things! I personally adore everything - from hilarious and witty dialogues to interesting and sophisticated characters. I love how the camera captures the essence of NYC. I love the fact that no matter how many times you watch an episode, it still manages to get you excited and bursting into laughter. But one VERY important thing about the show is FASHION!!!

How can you not love what each woman is wearing? They all have a very distinctive sense of style. Carrie, the creative urbanite meets fearless fashionista. Samantha, the sexy and sophisticated business woman. Charlotte, Jackie O. meets upper east side. And Miranda, the power lawyer. Yes, season one may seem so long ago and the fashion has undeniably changed. But.. starting from season two I personally would have worn a lot of their outfits. They are just classics! And how people love to say - fashion always comes back!

Here are some of my favourite outfits!

1. Carrie Bradshaw (S06E20) - Pretty in Paris!

2. Samantha Jones (S03E10) - Single and Fabulous!

3. Charlotte York (S06E12) - Glamorous in Pink!

4. Miranda Hobbes (S04E09) - Office Chic!

So what do you guys think? Do you have a favorite 'Sex and the City' fashion girl? I know the majority of you would probably say Carrie, but I personally love each one of them! They're all so individual and unique. And all of them inspire me to look better in life! We all know that the person matters the most, but you must agree on the fact that it's always pleasant to look at a nicely dressed person.

XOXO
