Why People Love Carrie

Carrie Bradshaw... The narrator, the voice behind all 'Sex and the City' episodes... The one and only. I guess people either love her or hate her. And I understand why. She really is a real individual. A great friend. In fact, a best friend to so many people - Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha, Stanford and Big. And just the fact that this person has so many people relying on her support, advice really means a lot.

Our Carrie has done a bunch of mistakes (with the biggest being her affair with married Mr. Big while having a great boyfriend Aidan at her shoulder) that haunted her for so long, But the thing about her, she never settles down for something that is too simple for her human nature. Aidan was too good and predictable for Miss Bradshaw. While John (aka Big) is the perfect match. This mysterious Manhattan businessman who has commitment issues just like her. I think what we have witnessed in the show is the rebirth of both these characters. Both stubborn and complicated, they actually do make a great couple together. I guess they are on the same emotional level, they get each other. I'm not saying that they have the perfect relationship, I could never forgive a man for not showing up on the wedding... But all these struggles and experiences made them stronger. Just the fact that they always end up together after every break-up. The best word that describes their relationship is constant DRAMA! Our Carrie just can't do without it. It's in her blood to not only feel positive emotions, but also to be hurt once in a while, just in order to feel that much more happy and satisfied when things actually go extremely well. She is in no way a masochist, she's just the way she is. Our Carrie.

I find Carrie (and Sarah Jessica Parker) extremely attractive in the show. Yes, she doesn't have that generally accepted beauty, but she's unique, you gotta admit it. I don't understand why so many men can't see that. Current sex symbols (take Megan Fox, even though I do think she's attractive) are so unnatural (plastic surgery), so without that something special... And on the other hand we have women who have entirely and completely accepted themselves for who they are. They may not be perfect, but God created them just as they are for a reason. That's why I find celebrities like Uma Thurman, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Barbara Streisand, Liza Minelli so much more attractive that those ladies who always want to change something in their physical appearance. I won't start writing names here, but we all get the picture. That's why you, girls, have to love yourselves. You are unique. You are special. We may not be supermodels, have long legs and perfect bodies, but we have a PERSONALITY, and that is what matters at the end of the day. Beauty fades, but who we are stays forever...

LOVE,
MK

PS for those of you who love Carrie as much as I do, the author of SATC published a new book recently. It's called 'Summer and the City' (2011). And it's a sequel to 'The Carrie Diaries' (2010). Those of you who are interested, you may also find these books on Amazon. Just click the pictures below!
